Common conditions we treat
Most ear problems fall into one of four categories. Each needs a different approach, and getting the right diagnosis early prevents long-term complications like permanent hearing loss or chronic infection.
Ear infections (acute & chronic)
Pain, fluid discharge, fullness, or fever — in adults or children. We identify whether the infection is in the outer ear (swimmer's ear), middle ear, or inner ear, and treat it with the right combination of medication, drainage, or follow-up care. Recurring infections need a different plan than one-off cases.
Hearing loss
Hearing changes happen gradually and are often noticed by family members before the patient. We conduct a full audiological evaluation to identify whether the loss is conductive (mechanical — wax, fluid, eardrum issues), sensorineural (nerve-related), or mixed — and map out treatment or hearing aid options accordingly.
Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
Persistent ringing, buzzing, or humming with no external source. Tinnitus is a symptom, not a disease — it can come from noise exposure, ear infections, jaw issues, blood pressure, or medication side effects. We trace the cause before recommending management strategies.
Wax buildup
Ear wax is normal and protective, but excessive buildup can cause hearing loss, discomfort, or dizziness. We use safe, professional removal techniques — no cotton buds, no candling, no over-the-counter drops that can worsen the problem.

How we diagnose ear conditions
A proper ENT evaluation goes beyond a quick look with a flashlight. In your consultation, you can expect:
Detailed history — when symptoms started, what makes them better or worse, family history, exposure to loud sounds, medications. • Feels and functions like a natural tooth
Otoscopic examination — a magnified look at the ear canal and eardrum.
Tuning fork tests — quick, in-office tests that help distinguish types of hearing loss.
Audiometry (if indicated) — a full hearing test in a sound-treated environment.
Tympanometry (if indicated) — measures eardrum movement and middle-ear pressure.
If imaging (CT or MRI) is needed, we coordinate it with trusted radiology partners and explain exactly why before ordering.
Process Overview
What to expect from treatment
Dr. Prathiba Reddy's approach is to treat conservatively first and escalate only when necessary. For most ear conditions that means:
Medical management first
Antibiotics, ear drops, or anti-inflammatory medications when appropriate.
Procedural intervention when needed
Wax removal, fluid drainage, foreign body removal — done in-clinic with comfort and safety as priorities
Surgical referral only for cases that genuinely need it
Always with a clear explanation of why, what it involves, and what the alternatives are.
Follow-up planning
Most ear conditions need a 1-week or 1-month check to confirm resolution.
